Parramatta will once again become the perfect playground for thousands of patriotic and passionate Aussies to celebrate Australia Day on January 26th. What better way to pay tribute to our unique cultural identity than by supporting Ronald McDonald House Westmead.

Parramatta RSL will be running an Australian Day Fun Festivities in the carpark from 9am to 3pm to fundraise for this very worthwhile cause. The event will include loads of fun filled activities for the little ones, mums and dads and even grandma and grandpa.

On the day why not come down and have an aussie sausage sizzle prepared by the Parramatta RSL Sub Branch volunteers , be entertained by the clowns , fiddler Simon Watts or enjoy the pipe band. Also let the lids loose on the jumping castles, with the clowns, lucky dips or ‘go Aussie’ with face painting. And don’t forget to also check out all the stalls there will be crafts & preserves and bric-a-brac. Gold coin donations will be collected throughout the festivities to support Ronald McDonald House.

In the lead up and on the day Parramatta RSL is also running a Mega Fundraising Raffle with over $1000 worth of amazing prizes to assist with the fundraising effort tickets are available from Parramatta RSL so why not come done and support this very worthy cause.

Parramatta RSL’s recent renovations have opened and a whole new world of dining, entertainment and corporate innovation to Parramatta. Parramatta RSL has been transformed into a contemporary entertainment complex. The recent $3 million refurbishment has set a new benchmark for Parramatta and includes integrated modern furnishings, innovative design and enlightening artwork.

Castle Hill RSL Group President and Chairman Warren Glenny said,

“Parramatta RSL is very proud to support Ronald McDonald House Westmead with the Australia Day fundrais-ing festivities in the carpark. It is fantastic to see our Members, Sub Branch, Interclubs and staff all come together to create a real celebration for Australia Day while supporting Ronald McDonald House Westmead.”

Adrienne Pearson, Ronald McDonald House General Manager, said,

“Ronald McDonald House, Westmead is always grateful for the support of the wider com-munity and we were thrilled with last years efforts in raising funds for the House and are grateful to be chosen charity this year. Both the staff at the RSL and the Volunteers from Ronald McDonald House give up their Australia Day to work tirelessly to raise the much needed funds. It is a true demonstration that the Aussie spirit is alive and well when it comes to helping children who have cancer and their families when needed most.”

Last year we saw lots of families who were able to have a sausage sandwich, drinks, face painting all at the reasonable prices and within the family budget.

Since 1981 Australia’s 12 Ronald McDonald Houses have provided more than 45,000 families with more than 1.2 million bed nights. The Houses are for those travelling from the country; without the House, there would be no place for them to stay whilst there child is receiving treatment. Staff and volunteers ensure that families are given the support and homely environment they need at what is an extremely difficult time in their lives.
