Parramatta Businesses Get Bowled Over and Support Kids West
Parramatta businesses are being welcomed to get together a team to play in a charity Barefoot Bowling event at Parramatta RSL on Friday March 27, from 3pm. The event will be followed by a BBQ at 5pm and includes drinks.
It costs just $200 to register a 4 person team from your business and is also a great way to promote yourself as there are prizes for the best branded team, best themed team and most talented team.
The event is proudly supported by Parramatta RSL, Parramatta Advertiser and the Parramatta Chamber of Commence.
"Kids West Charity are proud to be involved as partners with the Parramatta RSL and Parramatta Chamber of Commerce in this fund raising event. It's great to see so many of the business community coming together for a worthwhile cause and taking the opportunity to share ideas for the benefit of all. I thank the Castle Hill RSL for having the foresight to run such an event and for their enormous support. This is another example of the great community support our Club's provide. I also thank the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce who are continually striving to help our local business's. Proceeds from the day will go to support the Adolescent Medicine Department and the special Shaken Baby Pro-ject at Westmead."
Trevor Oldfield, Chairman Kids West.
“Parramatta RSL is pleased to come together with the Parramatta Advertiser and Parramatta Chamber of Commerce to support Kids West. Parramatta RSL has an outstanding community spirit and we are very keen to work with the Parramatta business community to really make a difference for children in Western Sydney through supporting Kids West.”
Warren Glenny, House President and Chairman Castle Hill RSL.
“In the wake of the tragedy of the Victorian Bushfires, it is once again encouraging to see the great Australian spirit rise to the challenge to support our fellow Australians in tough times. The Parramatta Advertiser is proud to support the Parramatta Corporate Barefoot Bowls event which will raise much needed funds for KidsWest. Unfortunately in tough times, it is often the quiet achievers such as KidsWest that work tirelessly to support peo-ple in the Community that feel the impact of tough times and in particular the impact of the current economic climate, with reduced support and financial funding to enable them to continue to provide much needed Community services. So we’re encouraging local businesses to take a break from their busy work schedules, reward their staff for the efforts and get involved with the Parramatta Corporate Barefoot Bowls event. For only $200, businesses can enter a team of 4, share in the fun on the day, get to meet other Parramatta businesses and support a great charity along the way.”
Adam Reid, Division Manager, West Division, Cumberland Newspaper Group.
“For many years the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce through its fundraising Charity arm ‘Business Helping Hands’ has helped to raise money for needy charities. On Friday 27th March 20009, the Chamber together with Parramatta Advertiser and Parramatta RSL, once again needs the business community to stand up and be counted and support the PARRAMATTA CORPORATE BAREFOOT BOWLS fundraiser. The recipient of all mon-ies raised on the day is “Kids West”. So come along, have fun, enjoy the day, and know that your contribution is helping someone less fortunate then yourself. See you there.”
Roman Dechnicz President Parramatta Chamber of Commerce.
Background to Barefoot Bowling at Parramatta RSL
Nestled in the Heart of Parramatta, Parramatta RSL recent renovations have opened and a whole new world of dining, entertainment and corporate innovation to Parramatta. And now Parramatta RSL has launched Barefoot Bowling.
Barefoot Bowling is enjoyable, affordable and accessible to and there is no better place to have a Barefoot Bowling social or corporate function than at Parramatta RSL.
So why not get your feet on the grass and have some fun with Barefoot Bowls. It’s lawn bowls gone casual and a fantastic social event.
Our friendly team at Parramatta RSL will also teach you how to bowl as part of your overall bowling experience.
Here are some quick tips for beginner bowlers:
- The larger black ball is called a bowl. The small white ball is the jack. They are usu-ally supplied by Parramatta RSL Club for your booking
- The aim of the game is to get your bowl as close to the jack as possible
- Bowls are weighted so that they don’t roll in a straight line, but in a curve
- Each bowl has a small and large icon on each side. Always keep the small icon on the inside of your delivery.
- You will play on a green (of very short grass) which is divided into rinks. There is a ditch on the outside of the green to catch badly delivered bowls.
- You bowl from alternate ends, usually standing on a mat, which is supplied.
So round up your colleagues and come and support Kids West!
